The McFarlin Library is committed to supporting the information and research needs of all TU students, faculty, and staff as the campus shifts to this period of virtual instruction. As new information develops, we will update our website with any changes to our operating hours and services. The McFarlin Library is the academic hub of the TU campus, and we will strive to continue to offer exceptional services and resources to our community.
Starting Friday, March 20, at 5 p.m., the McFarlin Library will remain closed to all visitors in accordance with the TU campus directive. The two IT computer labs will also be closed. Please see below a description of our virtual services and access to materials, including a limited book/material pick up service. We will update our hours as information changes.
To assist the teaching and research of students and instructors off-campus, the library will continue to offer many of its services virtually.

Contact the library with requests and questions remotely, including email, text, and phone. The library will be answering remote questions Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm.

Faculty can request library instructional services to support their virtual teaching. Contact the library’s Student Success Librarian, Lisa Grimes (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss options for your course, such as an online course visit, a resource guide, or a video tutorial. Lisa has created several Quick Tip Video Tutorials that you can easily link to in your course.
Access to Resources:
Limited Check-Out of Materials
The McFarlin Library is currently operating a limited check-out option for our physical materials. TU students, faculty, and staff can request materials in our physical collection to be picked up at designated dates and times. Visit our Book Retrieval page to request physical materials. Pick-up of materials will be limited to Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm. Requests must be submitted by midnight the night before pick-up.
TU students, faculty, and staff can log-in to My Library Account to view library materials that they have checked out through the library. Loan periods are automatically being renewed through May 7, and any fines accrued during this period will be waived. Materials can still be returned to the library through the book drop located on the Southside of the building.

Request materials that the library does not have access to through our Interlibrary Loan Service. We are currently fulfilling requests for electronic materials.
Department of Special Collections:
The Department of Special Collections and University Archives will be closed to visitors starting Friday, March 20th at 5 p.m. We will continue to supply distance Reference and Copies as normal. If there is any way we can assist faculty with online access, please contact us and we will try to fulfill those needs.
