Book Retrieval

   

If the item you want is available: It will be pulled within 48 hours. (Anything requested after 2 p.m. on a Friday may not be processed until Monday or Tuesday.)

If you choose the delivery option: You will be contacted via email within 48 hours, once the item has been pulled, to schedule a delivery.

Note: Book chapters and journal articles are not available through book retrieval at this time.

If we don't own a book at any of TU's libraries, you can ask us to borrow it from another library by using Interlibrary Loan. We do not borrow current textbooks

Tips for using Book Retrieval

To request a book you will need:

  • Your TU ID number
  • The title of the book
  • The author of the book
  • The call number

Book retrieval can only be used for books at McFarlin Library.

  • Books in Special Collections, at the University School or at the Law Library cannot be requested through book retrieval.
  • EBooks and electronic journals cannot be requested through book retrieval. If you need help accessing an eBook or journal article please Ask Us!
  • Book chapters and Journal articles are not available through book retrieval at this time.

How many books can I request?

  • Undergraduate students can request 5 books per month
  • Graduate students and Staff can request 10 books per month
  • Faculty members do not have a limit to the number of books they can request

I'm a law student/staff member/faculty member, can I use book retrieval too?

  • Yes, but only for books available at McFarlin Library.

If a book is available, the book will be pulled within 48 hours. (Books requested after 2 p.m. on a Friday may not be available until Monday evening.)

  • You should receive an email when your book is ready.
  • Books will be held at the checkout desk near the cafe.
  • Books will stay on hold for 1 week once they are ready.
    • If a book has not been picked up after 1 week, it will be reshelved or given to the next person that has requested it.

If a book is checked out, you can ask for a hold or a recall to be placed on the book.

  • Call 631-2871 or ask at the Library Service Desk.

Book delivery is currently offered to graduate students, staff and faculty.

  • Deliveries are only available Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Delivery is currently limited to the main TU campus.
  • We do not deliver to dorm rooms, apartments or other residences.
  • You will be contacted to schedule delivery once your book is ready.
